Dogs are not permitted on any of the trails or fire roads excluding the campground connector trail from Sempervirens and Blooms Creek campgrounds to park headquarters. Dogs are not allowed in any portion of the Rancho del Oso area, or on Waddell State Beach. CAMPING – Big Basin has several camping options for those wanting to experiance the redwoods for more then one day. Big Basin has Standard Campsites, Group Camps, Tent Cabins, horse camps and backcountry trail camps. On the last day of the event, public shared burn areas are prepared for participants to use.

The Temple is the secondary major recurring art installation at Burning Man after the Man, and is considered just as important to the event culture. The event is clothing-optional and public nudity is common, though not practiced by the majority. In the earliest days of the event, an underground barter economy also existed, in which burners exchanged “favours” with each other. While this was originally huffy mountain bike supported by the Burning Man organization, this is now largely discouraged. Instead, burners are encouraged to give gifts to one another unconditionally. “Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.” This was written with a broad stroke for general organizing, meaning anyone is welcome to the Burning Man culture.
Since 2002, the area beyond this fence has not been accessible to Burning Man participants during the week of the event. However, for a festival in the desert, I can’t imagine wearing heels or getting a personal celebrity stylist for a weekend music event. Social media influencers look like they’re trying to prove something, as if wearing a $300 Selki dress to a music festival in the desert will distract from the insecurity of not being a mainstream celebrity. It comes across as desperate and inauthentic which is a whole different problem with influencer culture. But those treasured trips of my youth, my wife reminded me, were in my teens and our kindergartner just wants to be on vacation with his parents. This 4-foot (1.2-meter) high barrier is known as the “trash fence” because its initial use was to catch wind-blown debris that might escape from campsites during the event.
