Dyson 360 Heurist Review

You should have a regular schedule of things such as battery checks, clogs, emptying the dustbins, checking the extractors for tangles and general cleaning. Dyson Link is the Android and iOS mobile app that connects to the 360 Eye. Much the same as the iHome app, you can take full control of the robot vacuum. I found the app clumsy to set up and sync with the network and robot.

Expect to pay around four figures for both, depending on whether or not they’re on sale. This sometimes caused the unit to miss spots when cleaning or be unable to locate its base station to recharge, and did not provide the user a history of which spaces were cleaned. We’re very happy with the little vacuum, but the software is lacking. When mapping our home, about 1/2 of the bedroom floor was missed. I can’t find any way of re-mapping just that one piece of the puzzle, and so the vacuum is missing that part.

So rather than, say, following a wall for two metres, it will stop and start while it scans the wall every few seconds. This resulted in it taking 50 minutes to map and 35 minutes to clean our test room, a poor result compared to other robot vacuums. It’s the advanced controls that really prove useful, allowing you to set restrictions to control how the 360 Heurist. The Avoid Area option is basically the no-go option on other cleaners, but there are two other options alongside. The No Brush Bar option turns off the spinning bar, which is good for more delicate hard floors and for deep-pile carpets.

I wanted to vacuum the living room when we aren’t using it during the day and vacuum the office when we weren’t using it during the evening. The only way to vacuum both those spaces in the same day is to make it all 1 event, which means there is the nuisance of this vacuum hovering around the space you are trying to use. I called Dyson to see if they had a solution and maybe I was wrong, and they weren’t able to get me an answer, offered to call back, and never followed through. This leads me to believe they aren’t concerned with improving the app which means I will never get to use the vacuum in the way that works for me.

You’ll also have an app that lets you access your Wi-Fi-outfitted vacuum from anywhere. Just be sure to look at the competition before you buy, because other brands offer more dyson robot vacuum impressive bots for less. However, the added arm is going to make the design much more bulky and it’s difficult to tell how effectively it would clean the stairs as it climbs.

On the top of the unit you’ll find the familiar dome housing a 360-degree camera. The robot uses this for navigation, as opposed to LiDAR, used by much of the competition. No data is transmitted to the cloud, and there’s no option to view the live feed, so anyone worried about privacy or security can rest easy. Using a coin in the slot at the end, you can slide out the brush to cut away any hair that has become wrapped around its centre, although Dyson doesn’t provide a tool to do this. There are handy grooves in the bar, though, so slipping in a pair of scissors to cut away any mess is easy enough.

The cross angles bristles pick up most hair and fur and stings, but it is easily wrapped around the extractor bar. The only downside to this is that the extractor bar is not the easiest to remove. Cleaning and maintenance are much like shark cordless a standard upright and can take quite a bit of time and effort. Flip the Dyson 360 Eye over, and you’ll notice “floating” tank-like tracks, not wheels. Knox said these would help the cleaner crawl over different types of floors.

IEEE Spectrum is the flagship publication of the IEEE — the world’s largest professional organization devoted to engineering and applied sciences. Our articles, podcasts, and infographics inform our readers about developments in technology, engineering, and science. He also gives an estimate of the vacuuming time, which corresponds reasonably with reality with a difference of about 5 minutes.

This model will likely be launched inside the United States later this year. It’s not a lock – there’s no absolute definite answer until Dyson makes an announcement, but an appearance with the FCC like this generally means we’re going to see the product appear in stores in the near future. The Eye 360’s navigation is so advanced that it can move from room to room provided doors are left open, but it’s also smart enough to avoid tumbling down a set of stairs. Yes, the 4.72-inch-high 360 Eye is 1.12 inches taller than the Roomba 980 and 0.82 inches taller than the Neato Botvac Connected — its two main competitors in the Wi-Fi-enabled robo-vac market. And that will certainly stop Dyson’s vacuum short in some cases. But for the most part, I had no issues with it clearing the same furniture as the other bots.
