In some ways, the Heurist is no exception, but its robotics and connectivity are lacking. The body of the vacuum has a minimal user interface, with only a single button, so the vacuum must be controlled by the app. We found that the Heurist’s connection to wi-fi is very poor, disconnecting itself every few minutes, which meant we couldn’t control it for periods of time. When Dyson first unveiled the 360 Heurist last year, it said the vacuum would not get a U.S. release because the design made it ill-suited to cleaning larger, more complicated homes stateside.
This is simply Dyson’s name for its latest brushless electric motors, which have appeared in its most recent stick vacuums. It also looks like you can remove part of the internal tubing that connects the bin to the brushes. That would be a neat upgrade, as the 360 Heurist had a tendency to clog when vacuuming piles of large debris.
The sensors are able to detect and adapt to different floor types and develop a multi-floor map of your home. During product development, the Dyson team built simulation tools to test the robot in silico. The team then set up a trolley and representative camera and optics, and drove it around hundreds of homes with a PlayStation controller.

The running time is between 40 and 75 minutes depending on which mode you selected. Max Mode provides the most powerful suction and overall best cleaning while the Quiet Mode dials the power back for lighter cleaning. IRobot, on the other hand,argues thatyou clean significantly better bymaking multiple passes from different directions. I tend to believe iRobot on this one (based on reviews I’ve conducted of various robot vacuums), but Dyson vacuums are famous for their ludicrously powerful motors, which may offset that. This makes a reliable addition to any home, proving a consistent cleaner on hard floors and carpet. While its cleaning pattern wasn’t that efficient, the app documents its path so you can see which spots may need tending to manually.
