Braun Series 5 Shaver with Charging Stand, Blue

There’s a Clean&Charge station to hygienically clean, lubricate and dry the shaver with a proprietary alcohol-based solution. Although our testers thought the Series 5’s cleaning cartridge was “kind of a pain to install”, they were pleased with its result. With two foil blades and an ActiLift middle trimmer, the Series 5’s shaving head is designed to cut uniformly and to capture flat-lying hair.

The cutting elements in the Series 5 are more advanced than those in the Series 3. The Series 3 has 3 shaving elements while the Series 5 has 5 shaving elements. One of the shaving elements in the Series 5 is the ActiLift, which isn’t Philips Norelco Shaver available in the Series 3 models. It actually separates and lifts hairs for cutting. Even those that are flat against the skin are the focus on the elements. The 5040s has a charger that lets you shave while you’re charging.

There’s a travel lock available for those who travel with their shaver constantly. The display for the battery is more advanced, too. The three heads move independently of the one next to it. The flex heads make it possible for the shaver to stay in contact with the skin. The shaving head of the 5040s moves in 8 directions.

But the older generation Series 5 shavers get an up for this additional technology. The Braun Series 5 has a battery life of 50 minutes, and a three-level battery display tells you how much shaving time you have left. If you don’t have time for a full one-hour recharge, it has a quick-charge feature to give you enough power for a single shave. You can also use this razor while it’s plugged in, though its battery life indicator is disabled during charging. Blades – This shaver is a foil type that operates with three flexible blades.

With that said there may be some jobs that each of these shavers do better than the other. Below we will learn more about shaving performance. The and the Braun Series 3 both have 3 cutting elements.

Charging will start automatically when the shaver has been placed in properly. The contacts on the back of the shaver need to align with the contacts in the C&C. A beep sound confirms that the shaver sits properly in the C&C.
