Unlike most trimmers that let you place the handle for comfort, this trimmer adjusts. A telescoping handle moves to quickly match the height of the user. I know my wife is intimidated by gas powered equipment, and I imagine it’s easier to get kids involved with electric stuff as well. Typical work around that’s recommended, if time is an issue is to drop off unit for warranty service, buy temporary replacement tool.
The Ego comes with a push-button line-load system, which eliminates the typically tedious process of putting new line on the spool head. There are a variety of systems that do this, but the Ego’s is the easiest we’ve tested. It wasn’t the lightest trimmer we tried, but its excellent balance and handle adjustments made it one of the simplest to swing around and maneuver in tight spots.
I also have the leaf blower and the hedge clippers. The battery will eventually die, but the one that died on me was replaced under warranty. I also had a charger die which was out of warranty, but I have four batteries and three chargers so that’s not really a problem. There are other options with the Powerload head, though.
