This 6 person tent also includes internal dry lines, hang loops, a hook-and-loop lantern loop, a tablet pocket, plus extra mesh pockets. At first glance, you might think that the Skydome 6 person tent is just another standard Coleman tent but that is not the case. This tent has a couple extra features that make it unique and one of the best 6 person tents. The first feature that is really nice is the Dark Room technology. This feature blocks over 90% of sunlight and keeps the inside of the tent cooler and dark all day. Additionally, this tent has a screen room, which is great for gear storage and as a place to relax away from the bugs.
With floor dimensions of 10′ x 9′, there is lots of space inside for sleeping and extra gear. This tent also features an included rainfly and bathtub floor with welded seams to keep you dry when it rains. Coleman’s 6 person tent with screen room is a great option that gives you some extra room for either gear or a screened room to relax and avoid the bugs. Outside of the screened room, the main part of the tent is basically a standard dome tent. This makes the tent pretty easy to set up as there are only 2 poles for the main section and only 1 additional pole for the screened room. Having tested a number of six-person tents of late, we’re happy to report that the Coleman Sundome 6 was among the easiest to set up and take down.
This is a replacement pole kit for one pile only and it is not specific to the actual model of tent I have. The length of poles ozark trail 10 person tent does not even fit in the tent bag I have. Bought this tent to replace the 6 man tent we had that we couldn’t get new poles for.
Located on both sides of the tent around waist height, these hanging and floppy pockets are constructed of cheap feeling mesh. To make matters worse, their small size is only able to handle basics like keys, a phone, and a headlamp or two. The main tent is a typical size of 10′ x 9′ but the screened room gives you an additional space of 10′ x 5′. This is a great space for storing gear, relaxing in the shade, and as a place to take off dirty shoes before going into the tent. While the screen room is partially covered by the rainfly, it is not completely covered.
However, because of the thick fabric, there might not be much air coming through. This tent seems to have some waterproof issue though, some users commented that purchasing an additional rainfly was necessary to keep the rain out. Some users said that the additional rainfly was not useful at all. In my opinion, this wouldn’t be a 6 person tent unless everyone wants to live like sardines.
Adding to the breezy feel is its partial rainfly, which when guyed out allows for a significant amount of airflow on warm summer nights. You also get a zippered mesh door and back wall along with a floor vent located at the back of the tent. The North Face’s WAWONA tent is designed to keep you comfortable in even some of the worst weather conditions. This tent is a strong tent with some great features baked into its construction. It includes both a front and back vestibule, which is really nice for storing extra gear.
The main appeal of the Coleman Instant 6 is detailed in its name. Weight and packed size for the Instant Tent 6 are 24.9lb and 48”x9”x9”, so it’s certainly a hefty tent that will take up a decent amount of space in your trunk. However, it’s very easy to unpack and pack away with respect to its travel bag, which we consider much more valuable. In the setup category, the Coleman Instant Tent 6 is a true standout amongst our 2021 review, and we were quite impressed with what it could do. The Sundome has heavily-sloped walls and therefore lacks the livability and roominess of pricier camping tents. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a cheaper option from a respected outdoor brand.

The tent has a lantern loop inside that you can use to hang your night lamps. It has two interior mesh pockets that I think is not enough especially when you have a lot of people staying. The tent has inverted seams which are supposed to prevent water from leaking into the tent via the seams. However, some users reported that there is still leakage during a torrential rain.
Look for a tent with prop-open ventilation ports at high points on the rainfly . When the inside of a tent is warmer than the outside, you’ll get condensation build up on the underside of the rainfly. If you want to be able to stand inside, make sure the peak height is taller than you. The “best tent” isn’t the best tent if you can’t even lay down in it, regardless of the total square feet inside. If you’re putting six people in a confined space, you want to be comfortable.
