It didn’t have as much of a char on the outside, but those burgers were closer to the medium doneness we were trying to achieve. My burgers were consistent across those tests and took between 15 and 17 minutes for every burger to reach 145 degrees. Since we measured each burger’s temp, I could also see how long it took char broil performance each burger to finish to determine if there were any obvious hot or cold spots in the grill. Fortunately, there weren’t; each burger took between 12 and 14 minutes to get to temperature. At 114 pounds, it’s one of the lightest grills we tested. Even so, it was easier to put together with help from someone else.
An electronic crossover ignition helps light the burners with the push of a button. Common to both Spirit and Spirit II, Weber grills come with some excellent wheels that make the movement of the grills smoother. One of the most distinct differences between the Spirit and Spirit II is in its cart design. While the Spirit comes in a cabinet design, the Spirit II is of an open-cart style.
The 20-pound propane gas tank mounts to the outside of the grill underneath the storage arms. This makes it easy to remove and replace, but it’s not exactly aesthetically pleasing. It may seem like nitpicking, but the rest of the grill is so sleek that having the propane tank visible really draws the eye away from the cool elements of the grill. The Spirit line is more affordable and its models are generally smaller, making them easier to store. The Genesis line is packed with the latest features from Weber and has grills that are usually larger, allowing you to cook for more people, for slightly higher prices. The grill uses an open cart design with plenty of storage space beneath the main unit.
Each of the grills in the E-210 and E-310 are incredibly high quality, versatile, and make a fantastic addition to anybody’s outdoor cooking setup. The warranty of products speaks a lot about what product to go for. The Spirit II E-310 has a longer warranty that runs for ten years, unlike the Weber Spirit E-310, a warranty of two years.
All of these extra gadgets require power, and the Genesis Smart grill takes 10 batteries. The Wifi module alone uses six D batteries, although there is an option to power that part with a power bank. We assume the four other batteries power the igniter, LED lights, and fuel gauge. We’re not big fans of smart cooking gear, there’s too many little things that can glitch out. It’s also nice to just put down the phone and engage in cooking time without screens. But we also understand that some folks really dig this technology and we say go for it if it makes you happy.
Aside from its superior cooking power, this grill has some wonderful features, which include a Bluetooth-enabled thermometer that will send alerts directly to your smartphone. The lid is also specially designed to keep char broil performance smoke away from your face while you grill. The side-mounted propane tank, gas meter, sturdy side tables, and cooking grates are also a perfect fit and very aesthetically pleasing, as well as being easy to put together.
We will focus on Weber Spirit Model E-310 and Weber Spirit II Model E-310, which are popular in the market. You’ll likely find that wood pellet grills are far more expensive than standard gas grills, which is understandable, considering their expanded functionality. Another newer available type is the infrared grill, which uses gas or electricity to heat a solid surface; the radiant energy from this surface heats the food.
