I’ve been a fan of EGO cordless power tools, and this one is no different. For lighter jobs that will make up the majority of most homeowners’ need for a string trimmer, this model is overpowered. There are so many tools you need to have at your disposal to maintain your lawn well, and they can take up a ton of space. Multi-Head systems are a great way to have the right tools and reduce your overall equipment costs.
This model features a carbon fiber shaft, making it very strong, though the whole unit isn’t particularly light. I have a decent sized yard and can trim and edge twice on one charge with juice left over. The auto feed system works incredibly well. (But it’s doing its job. The cord length is always perfect) I’m 6′ and don’t have to hunch over which really saves my back. I attached a shoulder strap to the mount that came with it and it balances so well that I barely have to touch the trimmer outside of pulling the trigger. I tried the 2nd speed setting once but didn’t need it.

Meanwhile overall I like the idea of the CF shafting I don’t like the foldable bit. Does their auto winder use the motor to rewind the string inside or it is some form of spring loaded. I think Stihl has a new setup that does something like autowind and the motor runs it back.
This trimmer churns through thick grasses and stubborn brush with ease. This had our testers holding the trimer in awkward, un-ergonomic positions when doing smaller jobs. If you want a string trimmer to power through thick brush, this option works great. For cleaning up grassy yards after mowing, though, we advise you to look elsewhere. I originally purchased this trimmer to maintain weeds around my house.
