I again recommend using the Series s on shorter facial hair to avoid any potential discomfort. I personally have very sensitive and dry skin, especially on the neck, but didn’t have any major issues using the 5018s. The shave was however more enjoyable and I even managed to finish in a shorter time. To my surprise, it was also good on the chin and under the nose, two areas where I have particularly thick facial hair.
I’m not too crazy about getting the “Closest” one possible. I didn’t use the brush on the foil system blades. The soap drops got inside the blade mechanism. Everything about the Philips Norelco Shaver is easy enough; from charge to shave and cleaning I cannot fault it unless I use it with a lot of growth. Even though it’s not designed for head shaving it is still easy enough to use and gets a close shave. If you’re satisfied with your Series 5, that’s really all that matters. I have been using electric shavers for more than 20 years and I’ve also tested some high-end, very capable models, so my experience won’t always be relevant. Like most electric shavers, the Series 5 is best used when cutting hairs under 1/8th of an inch long .
