The Braun Series 5 is an electric shaver from a series of 1 – 9 manufactured by the popular German company, Braun. The 2020 Series 5 models use a new shaving head called 53b. I’d say that the 5018s and the rest of the models in this lineup will be suitable for someone with light to medium facial hair. The power button is also used to activate the travel lock function; you do that by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. It also means the shavers will only operate cordless, so you can’t use them while charging. This design of the shaver, with a cutout right underneath the shaving unit, allows you to rinse off the stubble without removing the cassette.
There’s no protective cap, travel case or lubricant included. And in all honesty, the new Series 5 is quite a bit cheaper. I just don’t think that the Series 5 name should be used as it will just cause more confusion. There are also Braun Series 5 no release buttons/tabs, so you’ll have to pry the cassette off using brute force. Just like I mentioned in the case of the new Series 7, I think it’s a step down in quality and performance from the one used on the old Series 5.
I am convinced that flexible heads are a must on foil shavers, the difference they make in terms of comfort is surprising . 1 full charge provides up to 3 weeks’ worth of shaving. 5 min quick charge is sufficient for 1 full shave. Braun Series cc is equipped with a high-performance and high-capacity battery that can last up to 50 minutes with 1 hour of charging. Ordinary people spend at least 5 minutes shaving daily, and with this model, you can use it for at least ten days before you need to recharge. Braun Series cc is the most expensive Braun Series 5 lineup and comes with a Clean and Charge station.

It is very easy to clean and can be washed with warm water without removing the blades while shaving with it, but after using it, it still requires cleaning properly. I still remove the blades to make sure it’s cleaned very well. This model has a fixed shaving head which is not as flexible while shaving as the higher-priced flexible head models. Buyers Remington Shaver are looking at paying more for shavers with a flexible head compared to this model. Very good ergonomics and the slimline design with hand grips does make the series 5 very comfortable to use. The most fragile part of this shaver and all other electric shavers seems to be the head section with the cutters otherwise the whole unit feels solid.

Being a mid-range product, this thing comes with a hard-plastic body. You have a sturdy product with a sleek look. I had to choose between Matte and Glossy finishes. I ended up choosing Matte over glossy as it goes well with other shavers that I have in my inventory. To round everything up, there’s a protective cap and a manual in place.
