Not sure myself as I have purchased this set too,but I would be inclined to write or call cruissant and ask them as they are the merchant.. I thought they were but they are metal as they stick to my knife magnetic board. Maybe, when I received them I had to sharpen them to use them. I was happy with the knives once they were sharpened. They were a bit of a disappointment when I received them. Using a dishwasher will damage your knives, I recommend hand washing.

It depends on how strong your magnetic strip is. These knives stick fine with the blade guards on. Not sure on the warranty on this product it was bought as a Christmas gift.
