Weber Q 1200 Red Liquid Mini Portable Tabletop Propane Gas Outdoor Grill + Reviews

We weigh everything that goes into our RV and our Q1200 is a bit less than 23 lbs without the propane bottle. The weight that everyone seems to quote in their reviews is lbs and that is the shipping weight, not the actual weight of the grill. As I mentioned earlier, the materials used to make all the main parts are either cast aluminum, stainless steel, or glass-reinforced nylon. All of these materials will hold up exceptionally well in most situations, given that the grill is stored correctly when not in use. By that, I mean, don’t leave it outside in the elements and expect it to look pretty in five years. From there, it was simply a matter of checking the drip pan.

Everything else (I’m assuming fasteners, hardware, and thermometer) is protected by warranty for two years. The heavy-duty cast-iron grates have a tough porcelain coating. The essential parts – the grill box, lid, and grill grates – are composed of cast aluminum. Nylon reinforced with glass – in a fiberglass kind of way, I assume – is heat resistant and durable. Even as a seasoned BBQ cook, I am still excited by the electronic ignition on this gas grill. If you have ever tried to manually start a fire, even on an electric grill, then you know what a hassle it can be.

These small cookers make travel easy, but obviously limit the amount and size of what can be cooked. They may be used as a table top grill or mounted to a fold out stand with two legs, two wheels and tool hooks.

Since then Weber, like many others, has outsourced manufacturing of more product lines.

This model also has a Grill Out handle light, which illuminates your grill for nighttime cooking. This grill is the only portable bbq that can be bought as a natural gas grill model instead of a propane gas grill only. It can also be hooked up to a 20-pound propane tank. The Weber Q portable gas grill was invented when Weber realized that many people were moving into the city where they wouldn’t have large backyards.

It’s large enough to grill about six larger hamburger patties or around 18 regular hotdogs. Alternatively, two smaller steaks on one side and a veggie pack on the other. I find this to be the ideal size for two people who grill regularly, or in some cases, a family with young children. If you only use your grill for meat and not for any sides such as potatoes or veggies, it will up to six people. Very little has changed since I reviewed two Weber Q grills over seven years ago. A slight model name change and some cosmetic updates are the only differences between the old and new grills.

The benefit here is that it limits the amount of grease that can fall on the flame, resulting in fewer flare-ups. That did the trick, and the pan slid into place easily. It seems like it was a one-off fluke, and honestly, the resolution was simple enough that it didn’t bother me too much. As far as heat retention goes, the cast aluminum lid does a pretty good job at keeping the heat trapped inside. As long as you keep the lid closed, you shouldn’t lose heat and will be able to cook the food faster.

In 2014 Weber split the cooking grate to accomodate an optonal cast iron griddle on one side. With an MSRP of $269, the Weber Q 2200 Gas Grill is definitely one of the more expensive portable gas grills you can buy. However, it’s also one of the largest and most powerful on the market.

If you would prefer to connect a much more economical and refillable 20lb propane cylinder, Weber makes an accessory adapter and hose that will do that. There is also an aftermarket kit that will let you convert a Q grill to use your RV’s low-pressure quick-disconnect line. Cleaning is never fun, but the weber charcoal grill grills are much easier to clean than most other portable grills on the market. Everything went smoothly until it came to the catch pan—because nothing can ever just be that easy, right? The pan is made from lightweight metal and has a recessed area in the center to hold a disposable tin.
