A Compact Treasure Trove: The Weber Q 2200 Review 2022 Update

The first portable grill I ever bought was a weber genesis 2100, the older version of today’s Weber Q1000. I bought it when I started this site back in 2011, and it actually was the reason I created this website. Which one of the Weber Q Series grills is right for you? Look at the table above to see what each grill includes; pick the one with the features you want.

At the same time, the structure ensures stability – even with the additional weight of food. My experience with both of these grills has been excellent. I don’t use them much anymore because I’m always testing new portable grills, but weber q let me expand on that. The Q1000 Series is lighter and more compact, while the Q2000 series has more grilling space and a taller lid. You will find a model in each series that has a built-in thermometer and folding side tables.

Q 1000 and 1200 are the smallest Weber gas grills with 189 square inches of cook surface and a single 8,500 BTU stainless steel burner. These portables, originally called Baby Q, were a hit coming out of the gate. The Weber Q 1000 is the basic model of the Weber Q portable series. But don’t let the word “basic” discourage you from buying this model.

Max bottles his own barbecue sauce recipes and now sells them around the country. What is great about cast iron is its ability to retain heat. After all, if portability is what you are after, you also want to keep things simple. The pared down design is also great for an easier grilling experience, particularly for newbies.

Just set up the grill so that the lid opens away from the wind, creating a natural wind barrier. It also works very well in temperatures below freezing, for those of you crazies who insist on doing that. I feel there one massive strike against it being genuinely portable. It’s around 30 lbs and is a bit cumbersome to transport without wheels. Out of the box, it feels a little clunky and awkward. It isn’t the type of grill you would be willing to carry very far.

If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the 2200 faltering. Of course, this is true of bigger and more expensive grills. I also can’t imagine too many instances when you would need this kind of power, especially when grilling in small outdoor spaces. What’s more, the domed lid creates space for larger roasts. A whole chicken or even a small brisket shouldn’t be too much hard work on this grill. Thus, you do have a few more options for what you can cook with the Weber Q2200.
