Pedigree Dog Food Review Good or Bad? Ratings & Ingredients

I would strongly recommend against purchasing Pedigree dried dog food for your beloved pets if you can afford even just to pay a little more for a better brand that isn’t mostly grain or corn. Pedigree is one of the most affordable brands out there. In general, you can get big bags of dry food for a very reasonable price. While this is positive, it isn’t the sole point of consideration. Taking into account the high amount of cheaper cereals in the food, as well as the vague terminology used in the ingredient list, we don’t think the savings are worth it.

But I am at the point I am going to make my own dog food. As with many dog food brands, Pedigree has had a few products on the recall list a time or two. Three months later, all three dogs were enjoying eating and Harley’s eye never needed another eye drop. I thought about figuring how many bags of Pedigree I could have bought for the amount I spent on the vet and medicine, but I didn’t, no need to get pissed off. I have been rescuing dogs since 1993 and found finicky eaters but after switching to Pedigree dry, I don’t have an issue.

She also seemed more alert and wouldn’t spend all day curled up listless like she did before. It was eye-opening to us how much pedigree wet dog food changing her kibble improved her health. I guess that wouldn’t be surprising to long-time dog owners but we just didn’t know.

The worse thing about sulphites is that thiamine deficiency can happen even if only part of your dog’s diet contains those preservatives. Since we’re proponents of full disclosure when it comes to additives, and Pedigree continues purina one dog food to use blanket terms to refer to theirs, we’re taking off 2 stars.
