Weber Spirit II S-310 45000001 Grill Review

The Weber CONNECT built-in functionality allows you to monitor food temperatures. It comes with one temperature probe but has the capacity to use two, so you can add your own for even more monitoring. Interestingly enough, char broil performance Weber’s Spirit series of older models cost more than the newer Spirit II series. While there is no compromise in quality with the Spirit II, they are comparatively less expensive than their original counterparts.

Now, another feature of the grilling system is the porcelain enameled flavorizer bars. The flavorizer bars then allow these drippings to evaporate, adding extra flavor to the food. Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates make cleaning and maintenance easy while the Flavorizer bars help promote more flavor from the food’s char broil performance drippings. Weber’s Smart Grill revolution may be mostly a Genesis-line upgrade, but they did spread the wealth to the Spirit series with the SX-315. They took the quality of the Spirit line and added their new Weber CONNECT technology so you can monitor how quickly your food is cooking via the included probe thermometer.

But the difference is minimal, especially if you’re not doing a side-by-side comparison of the two. Some folks think cast-iron grates distribute heat better across the grilling surface than stainless steel. But in our research we found that the design and the materials that make up the grilling system are what determine heat distribution.

Grills with more burners are usually overkill, and two-burner grills can feel cramped. Gas grills cook faster and are easier to use than charcoal grills because you can turn on the flame with the press of a button and control the heat with the turn of a knob. They don’t produce much smoke, and they’re simpler to clean than charcoal grills, since you don’t have to dump any ashes.

There’s no easy answer, but we discuss some of the considerations in the sustainability section below. Experts and our testing confirm this range is where you’ll find the best value, with grills that perform great and can last a decade or more. Now, I do want to quickly compare the Spirit II E 10 and Genesis II – the former is a higher end option. However, apart from the fact there is slightly more cooking area and the BTUs are higher, I wouldn’t waste my money but stick with the Spirit II E 310 instead.

The burner hoods (metal “tents” that sit over the burners and guide grease away from the flames to prevent flare-ups) are usually the first to go. Weber’s warranty covers burner hoods on the 2022 Genesis models and all parts on the Spirit II models for 10 years. Or you could find third-party options that claim higher performance and long lifespans (though we haven’t tested these claims ourselves).

The powerful GS4 grilling system lets Weber perform like no other grill. GS4 features four key components working in harmony to create excellent, well-balanced barbecued food. Most small and average-sized grills have two separate burners, controlled independently, or one burner with independently controlled halves. Some average-size grills have up to four burners with corresponding controls large grills often have six. Additional burner controls generally allow the cook more flexibility. Burner can be located as the main burner, side burner, rotisserie burner, or any combination of burners.

The porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates make cleaning easier and the porcelain enameled flavorizer bars help vaporize the drippings to create a flavorful smoke. Porcelain-coated cast iron cooking grates are easy to clean and help spread heat evenly across the cooking surface. Open your door to the world of grilling with the sleek Spirit II E-210 gas grill design. This led us to surmise that the smaller Spirit model concentrates the burners’ heat better. We had no issues with the meat sticking to the flat, porcelain-coated iron grates. And we had no problems with flare-ups, the grease fires that produce charring and acrid smoke.

We chose grills with fireboxes made of cast aluminum because the firebox is a major part of the grill, it’s difficult to replace, and aluminum is resistant to rust and corrosion. Cheaper grills have thin enameled steel fireboxes that are prone to damage and holes from rust. Once your grill has a rusty hole in the firebox, it’s destined for the scrap heap. Since the Spirit II E-210 has only two burners, indirect cooking may present a bit of a challenge.

We wish the bars of the Spirit II E-310’s warming racks ran front to back, parallel to the main grates, like they do on our upgrade pick, the Genesis E-325s. That way, you weber spirit 2 could easily slide a spatula under stuff that’s warming. As it is, the warming-rack bars run edge to edge, and you have to awkwardly jimmy a spatula in there sideways.
