Weber Q 1000 Portable Gas Grill

You help support OutdoorGearLab’s product testing and reviews by purchasing from our retail partners. The regulator unit unfortunately occupies the space directly underneath the handle. Even if you aren’t using a disposable bottle, you can really only hold the back third weber genesis 2 of the grip, resulting in a rather awkward carry until you remove the regulator for transport. Once an item is installed, we cannot accept a return or exchange. If the product becomes defective, product returns or exchanges must be handled directly with the manufacturer.

If you have a Phillips-head screwdriver and a can-do attitude, you’ll be able to set up the Weber Q 2200 Grill in a matter of minutes. After pulling the grill and its pieces out of the box, I attached the lid using the included pins and screwed on the grill’s handle and thermometer. The control valve and ignition button simply slip into place, and the ignition even comes with the necessary AAA battery. Once that’s done, all that’s left to do is place the grates on the grill and slide the catch pan into place. They have a tabletop model, the RoadTrip 225 Tabletop, that offers 225 square inches of cook space and up to 11,000 BTUs of heat across two burners. While 13 extra pounds may not seem like a lot on paper, it could feel that way if you have to lug a grill over uneven ground to get to your campsite.

Though it’s available with the same Titianium colored lid that all other gas models have, it is also available in several other colors as well. Red, blue, orange, and green colored lids are all unique to the Q1200, but it also has a black model, similar to the electric versions. Despite a few hot spots here and there, the only exception to the even heat distribution of this grill portable bbq are the farthest edges of the grill surface. The only annoyance in the wind is the disposable aluminum drip tray liner, which is designed to save you from having to clean what can notoriously be the nastiest part of a grill. Without some significant weight added — like a rock — you can expect that this drip pan will pick up and fly away with the first significant gust of wind.

We put that phrase in quotations because the only thing that packs away are the side tables, which do conveniently fold up securely underneath the lid. Within just a few minutes of preheating, this efficient grill is already pushing 500-degree temperatures. It is important to control the temperature off-the-bat if you plan on cooking more on the low-and-slow side. For retail purchases returned without a receipt, the refund will be issued as a store merchandise credit at the lowest price within the last 90 days. They both accept both the 14.1oz and 16.4oz disposable propane bottles. This is far more cost-effective and won’t leave you running out of propane halfway through cooking a meal. Ideal for cooking hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, steaks, and veggies.

We reserve the right to limit, or refuse returns without a receipt. Throughout my testing, I was easily able to achieve temperatures of 450 to 500 degrees with this portable grill, which was enough for my needs. However, if you like to cook with really high temperatures—I’m talking over 500 degrees—you might have trouble getting there with only one burner. If you are still not sure if either grill is for you, there are other portable grills that might be worth taking a look at. They both operate a single gas burner running on a one-pound propane bottle, but they can be upgraded to run on a 20-pound tank with an adapter hose sold separately. If you’re looking for a new gas grill that can slide into your car for a weekend getaway or tailgate, you probably have looked at the weber charcoal grill-series of grills.

The cart is wheeled, giving backyard grillmasters the ability to move their grill around for optimal conditions. I don’t use them much anymore because I’m always testing new portable grills, but let me expand on that. The manufacturer’s warranty on all of these grills is outstanding. The warranty on the cast aluminum body and Thermoset/Thermoplastic parts is 5 years. Warranties on all other parts are for 2 years, which is more than enough time to work out any defects that might be present. Lastly, the Q3200 includes a significant feature that none of the other grills have.
