Dyson’s $700 V15 Detect has a laser that illuminates dust normally invisible to the human eye. To my horror, the laser showed that every inch of the floor in every room of the house was blanketed in a light layer of dog fur. The FCC filings come as the Dyson 360 Eye, which the company revealed as its first robotic vacuum in 2014, is listed as “out of stock” on the company’s US website. Dyson released the 360 Eye Heurist robotic vacuum last year but not in the US, so these FCC filings could point to Dyson’s second US attempt at tackling the likes of the Roomba.
Using whatever navigation system they have, whether it’s automatic smart navigation or via boundary strips, the majority of robot vacuum cleaners on this list are fine with hard floors. Nevertheless, it is always worth checking as some may focus on certain other areas, such as picking up pet hair, over being great on harder floors. I spent a long time debating this purchase, but having had the Heurist for just over a month now, I’m delighted with the overall performance and benefits it brings. This pays so many dividends later on and makes the excellent smartphone app event better.
Truthfully, you could even use it as a backup to a Roomba, tackling parts that are impossible to clean with a Roomba, such as different floors where the machine isn’t being used or a flight of stairs. Not everyone has the same furniture or floor setting, so this might not be the case for your dyson robot vacuum carpets. While the Roombas aren’t bad on carpet by any stretch, the one area where they struggled was cleaning sugar. If you aren’t regularly spilling sugar into your carpet, it is likely that the Roomba lineup may still have the performance you need. Again, this has quite a few similarities to newer V-Series models.

It’s one Dyson Link app for all your connected Dyson machines; so the Heurist lives alongside any heaters, coolers and Lightcycle lamps you might have in your household. Thankfully this all very Dyson-esque, with compartments and segments shark cordless all popping apart with ease. The 330ml dust bin is on the small side but is super simple to pop out and empty. The good news is you can prevent this from happening using some settings in the app, which I’ll get onto in a bit.

Yes, the height is important, but also lighting and other items that may be under the couch. The Roomba also has three-stage cleaning and carpet boost technology. However, that being said, it still underperforms what Roomba owners have become used too. It will clean well, and it doesn’t miss a lot, but compared to some of the earlier models with fewer features, it doesn’t do as good of a job as it should.
