Weber Genesis II S-435 REVIEWED

Any juices and drippings that make it past the burners are funneled towards a waiting disposable drip tray for collection. Its lid and pair of side tables are built from heavy steel. Both the grill’s cast iron grates and lid are enameled in porcelain too. My only complaint, a minor one, is Weber’s choice to use some plastic in the E-310’s construction. The ends of the grill’s side tables are wrapped in gray plastic bumpers that cheapens its appearance.

The Weber Genesis II 335 is another excellent grill in a long time of top-end Weber Grills. Read our Weber Q3200 review for another great gas option but do note it is natural gas only, not propane. I reviewed a grill in the LX series, which comes with a few more BTUs of heat and some additional bells and whistles. You can find similar features in other grills or buy them as after-market add-ons, but having them built into the model is a nice touch.

This grill also has a little bit more power than the E-310, but not as much space or features. Since you’re going to be dropping a few hundred dollars on this grill, it’s important to know how the customer service holds up. What makes the Weber Genesis II E-310 a superior grilling experience is its ability to be paired to a mobile app.

The lids feel heavy and sturdy, the handles strong and secure. To my eye, the lids appear just a short and squat in-person as they do in photos. A member of The Virtual Weber Bulletin Board reports that the grate to lid height is 1″ shorter than 2016 models. Perhaps it’s a optical illusion, but it sure seems shorter than that. If steaks and chops worthy of Instagram are your thing, you’ll want the sear grill, with the sought-after diamond pattern built-in for no-fail grill marks. Weber has a deservedly good reputation for backing up their products (10-year warranty — hello!) and offering support to their customers.

It is a very majestic and powerful grill as the specifications will show you. The greatest feature set is the Weber CRAFTED Cookware system. However, except for the Weber Smokefire, all other Weber models are no longer made in the weber charcoal grill USA entirely. While several models are assembled locally, both the Spirit and Genesis II lines are now made and assembled entirely in Taiwan or China. A lifetime of outstanding customer service and expertise you can rely on.

Weber’s leaning in that general direction with High+, but the burners are almost six inches from the top of the grill grate, which is simply too far away to get a hard sear. I could get a better, more even sear in my cast-iron pan sitting on the grill’s side burner. I found a sweet spot after a few minutes with half power on the left burner and a trickle in the center, which seemed acceptable considering the wind. I nudged up the heat, trying to get up to a steady 325 degrees on the indirect side, but it needed constant adjustment to get anywhere close to consistent temperature.

Of course, you don’t need this if you are using natural gas, but it is a huge help and a rarity for most propane grills. As I mentioned before, the grates are made from porcelain-enameled cast iron, making them perfect for heat retention. If you do decide to take this premium gas grill home with you, here are some of the stand-out benefits and features you can expect. Since the early 1980s, Genesis has been one of the most sought-after gas grills in the US.
