Though these grills are portable, moving them is a two-person operation since they can weigh upwards of 100 pounds or more. This model sits on four large casters, two of which are lockable, which is useful for wheeling the grill into position on a patio or deck. The large cooking surface on the 22″ allowed me to make just about everything at once. No more making one or two cast iron pancakes at a time and flipping them into a bowl, only to serve them cold minutes later.

While Blackstone’s most common grill size is 28 inches, the company also makes smaller 17-inch models as well as large 36-inch griddles. A 28-inch griddle has about 528 square inches of cooking surface, which is enough to cook for up to six people. Larger 36-inch flat-top grills have around 750 square inches of cooking surface, which is enough for gatherings of eight or more people. Blackstone’s smaller tabletop models, which have around 300 square inches of cooking space, are suitable for up to four people.

After removing the grease cup, it’s a good time to remove the side shelf. As you disassemble the Blackstone, set the parts to the side. I love how easy it is to clean and not much is needed for the setup. The griddle temp adjusts for different needs and it’s so easy to have a propane bottle or 2 that will last for the whole trip. Many of Blackstone’s grills come with additional features that make them easier to use. Less common additional features include bottle openers and paper towel holders.

Blackstone Adventure

At 28 inches, it has just as much cooking surface as Blackstone’s higher-end griddles. Like those pricier models, it also boasts two burners and lights with an electric ignition. While Blackstone may indeed be the go-to brand for this style of grill, deciding on which model to buy can be a challenge. The company’s griddles range in size from tabletop 17-inch models for camping up to full-size 36-inch griddles for large tailgating parties.

You’ll want to be aware of another after-market product, which is the Blackstone 5013 Universal Griddle Stand. Since this griddle is a tabletop model, it does not come on a cart with legs. If you’re using the griddle at home on your deck or have access to a Blackstone Adventure table, then this product may not be helpful. The griddle has a built-in lighter, so lighting the burner is as simple as turning the knob on the device’s front. Use the knob to set the cooktop to your desired temperature, and you’ll be cooking in no time.

The griddle uses a one-pound propane bottle to fuel the single burner (the propane bottle isn’t included). You can hook the propane regulator up to an RV propane tank if you want to take your griddle on the road. A char broil performance single bottle of gas will get you multiple cooking sessions.
