It also has a pet mode available that can maximise suction to pick up hair while keeping the cameras on high alert for any pet accidents. The 360 Heurist utilises Dyson’s long-established vacuuming technology into a self-learning robotic vacuum. The robot boasts edge-to-edge cleaning thanks to the brush bar that runs along the full width of the device. It also claims that the 78,000rpm motor can spin small, fine pieces of dirt into the bin. I mean, because it’s from Dyson you’d figure that it has lots of significant improvement over are the robot vacuum cleaners…
As you can see from the illustrations in the patent, which was published on September 1, this theoretical robot vacuum would feature a set of “tri-star wheels” and a robotic arm. It could use the robotic arm as leverage shark cordless to push the body up the stairs as the wheels revolve on the flat of each step. And it would supposedly clean in the process as well and should be able to navigate its way down the stairs once it’s done.
If the robot can’t move over your floor, then it wouldn’t be a very good option. Luckily the 360 Eye and the Roomba 980 make use of wheels and tank tracks for mobility. Touch sensors allow it to reverse and go around obstacles and drop sensors keep it on level floors. From there it will begin cleaning, constantly updating the created image and triangulation dyson robot vacuum to know where it has been, what areas need to be cleaned and how much is remaining. The images is sliced into grids measuring about ten feet in size that the robot will circle through to clean that grid area before moving on to the next. It takes 30 images per second to get the current layout of the space and then creates a panoramic view to follow.
I have my 360 Heurist cleaning hard flooring and a carpeted area and it performs really well on both. The hard flooring is a mock-floorboards setup, with big grooves between the planks that gather dust and grime – and the carpet is constantly covered in crumbs from our toddler’s various snacks throughout the day. The Heurist smashes through all of this though, leaving a nice gleaming floor. Its dust container will be full of grey filth by the time its 45 minute cycle is done. However, I use our Dyson in our open plan living room / dining room / kitchen setup, and 45 minutes is just about enough.
More than 10 years after its conception, Dyson believe they have the perfect cleaning mate. Dyson touts its carbon fiber and nylon brush that’s roughly as wide as the 360 Eye itself, but a lot of the stuff the 360 Eye struggled to collect was hiding in corners or up against the side of the test pens. Like the Roomba 980 and the Neato Botvac Connected, the 360 Eye is app-enabled.
