If you are going to buy a single-serve Keurig machine then you may as well spend the extra money to get one with removable parts that make it easier to clean. Even a water reservoir will get dirty after a while, and being able to remove that and clean it is worth a few bucks. Such is the case with the Keurig K-Mini and the Keurig K-Mini Plus. As the Plus would indicate, the latter has a few more features that set it apart from its predecessor, but are those features something you need?
Without the drip tray, the Mini will accommodate mugs up to 7 inches tall. Neither of these has a large water reservoir; you put water in each time you use it. The K-Mini comes in black, gray, and what they call “Oasis” which is a greenish-blue and the one I tested.
This mid-priced model is just as straightforward to use but includes a 48 ounce removable water reservoir. On the larger brewers with full-size reservoirs, you are confined to pre-programmed drink sizes – usually, 6 oz, 8 oz, and 10 oz. You can also feel confident you’re brewing with fresh water every time . While this is certainly an excellent option for some people, it’s also true that the K Mini Plus may not be ideal for all coffee lovers.
With such a small water reservoir and no way to control cup size, you’ll have to add water every time. You can add between 6-12 ounces of water, and when you hit the brew button, the machine will use all of it. Featuring a large, 48-ounce reservoir, the K-Classic is made to brew cup after cup of coffee without needing to be refilled.
It’s clear to us that the K Mini was made to make brewing simple. While some coffee lovers enjoy the process, others of us just want to make it out the front door in time. With Hamilton Beach this machine, you don’t need any fancy equipment, technique, or skills. The K Mini Plus only accommodates k-cups, but you can use a k-cup reusable coffee filter for grounds.

The K-Mini’s slim design makes it easy to squeeze between two things (it’s less than five inches wide), taken on camping trips, or stored away if counter space is really limited. Choose your serving size, add water, insert the K-Cup of the day, and a hot cup will be brewed in just a few minutes.
