DJI Phantom 4 Pro V 2.0 Review

It also gets an excellent flight time of 30 minutes — great for pro pilots to get the shots they need and minimize downtime. This program is your security blanket when you signal the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 to return to base. The aircraft follows the safe path it just took, or if that path is unavailable, it finds its way using GPS and obstacle avoidance.

There’s also a change to the top end resolutions and frame rates, with an additional 3840 x option alongside the existing 4096 x 2160 , and a new 2704 x 1520 (2.7K) option. When Beginner mode is switched off, the will default to a maximum flight altitude of 390 feet above the takeoff point. Supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, OcuSync 2.0 scans for the frequency band with the lowest interference and switches accordingly to maintain clear transmission. With OcuSync 2.0, the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 will connects wirelessly to the DJI Goggles for an even better and immersive flying experience. Spotlight – Locks the camera on the subject while you fly in almost any direction.

To answer the question simply, I do not recommend this drone to just anyone. If you are looking to fly as a hobby, and are not as concerned with capturing the very best aerial video, you can spend half the price and will be happy. I must say, I am very impressed with the stability of the camera on this drone. It has been windy around here, not ideal conditions to fly a drone, but it’s a loaner that I have to return soon, so I take what I can get. As I am carefully watching the drone to see it jumping around in the wind, I am more than pleased to get home to the footage to find it as smooth as can be.

The Phantom 4 Pro has consumer-grade GPS which is about as accurate as the blue dot on your cell phone (i.e., geolocates photos poorly). So, with the Phantom 4 Pro, you need a lot of ground control in order to anchor and correct the model, otherwise, you can be off by 10′ XY and maybe 50′ vertically. The more compact and detailed the project requirements the closer to the ground Phantom needs to fly as the camera is integrated and image pixel size naturally increases with height. This compact mount sits beneath the Phantom drone, and due to its lightweight frame does not dramatically effect either flight time or speed. This design pushes the boundaries of new multispectral imaging technology, thus allowing for a high demand in market.

For visualization purposes, you can think of a rubber sheet and a glass sheet. The model created by the Pro is a lot like a rubber sheet, and the ground control are like tent stakes that tie the model down in the corners and the center. By contrast, the model created by the Phantom 4 RTK is more akin to a glass sheet with holes where the control points are, and that glass sheet must be positioned correctly so that the control lines up. As mentioned above, the Phantom 4 RTK offers much more precision than the Phantom 4 Pro and thus requires less ground control to anchor and correct the model.

I must repeat myself, the dji fly is a fantastic drone, you will not be disappointed or ripped off for purchasing it. You can, however, get a better bang for the buck by considering the Phantom 3 for less camera intensive needs or the Mavic Pro for more portable needs. Same goes if you jump up to the Phantom 4 Pro or Advanced for the best camera in a DJI drone under $2000. I’m droning on about the newer quadcopters in the Phantom 4 line, what you came here for was to find out whether or not the Phantom 4 standard is worth buying. Admittedly, the Phantom 4 is a great drone, but we feel there are other drones that are a better purchase for your dollar.
