Considering usability, it is hard for a stick vacuum to compare to the ease of a robot vacuum, but what it’s really got going for itself here is the fact that it requires no “babysitting”. It only uses up battery when shark cordless you’re physically holding down the trigger, and easily navigates in and out of rooms with the ease of cordless navigation. This vacuum uses the same Dyson V2 motor that is used in the Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum .
The device comes with seven cleaning heads for sucking up dust and dirt on hardwood floors, carpets and smaller areas like crevices. The roller attachment for hardwood is the one with the laser. It makes night vacuuming a thing — the darker it is, the more visible the laser. An attachment for carpet includes a cutter to slice irobot vacuum cleaner up hair, which reduces the need to do maintenance on the head. So along with the Dyson, I tested the latest automated cleaners — a robot vacuum and a robot mop — from iRobot, the maker of the Roomba. The robots were fussy to set up and staggeringly dumb at times, but once they learned where to clean, they were very helpful.
TheRoomba 980cleans with a central dual-rubberized brushroll, spinning side brush, and three wheels for navigating uneven floor types. Contrary to Roomba models outside of the 900 Series, the Roomba 980 navigates each space methodically and with straighter paths, largely due to the advanced onboard camera. Dyson is possibly most noted for their line of cordless irobot vacuum cleaner stick vacuums, the V-Series stick models including the V6, V7, V8, and V10. Branding on the device suggests it will also use Dyson’s new Hyperdymium motors. This is simply Dyson’s name for its latest brushless electric motors, which have appeared in its most recent stick vacuums. It also looks like you can remove part of the internal tubing that connects the bin to the brushes. That would be a neat upgrade, as the 360 Heurist had a tendency to clog when vacuuming piles of large debris.
They all have drop sensors to prevent them falling down the stairs. The underside reveals a removable and replaceable front brush system and two likely robust and powerful blue wheels. On the right we see the text DUST ANALYTICS, and on the right we see SIDE ACTUATOR. At the back in the removable dust bin we see RADIAL CYCLONE TECHNOLOGY. Whether it’s worth that much money to pick up a 360 Eye will depend on your commitment to achieving a clean house without being too personally involved in the process. I actually ultimately stopped using my Roomba, which cost considerably less, because it wasn’t really effective enough to deal with the trade-offs.
Get used to receiving app notifications saying, ‘Your robot is stuck’ quite often. This is a twin turbine model too, which means the X8 robovac is potent with 2000Pa X 2 suction power and no less than four suction settings. Pure, Power, Turbo and Max are all good for various cleaning tasks around the house. Also inside the box is a decent selection of kit including the main unit itself, a charging base, a power adapter plus two side brushes.
