Previously a base model to consider, the newer options offer better power and more functionality than this Roomba.

The S7+ works well on hard flooring and carpet, but is best for homes that have both. With four vacuum power levels—Quiet, Balanced , Turbo, and Max, topping out at an impressive 2,500Pa of suction—it’s an excellent option for homes with pets and carpeting. With the ability to empty its own dustbin and wash its own mop, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is one of the most self-sufficient two-in-one robot floor cleaners we’ve tested. When it encounters potential obstacles that aren’t in its database, the j7+ snaps photos and asks you whether it should avoid those areas in the future.

In general, the more power, the better, especially if you have carpet, but battery life and obstacle avoidance capabilities are also a factor. Affordable robot vacuums often bissell crosswave cordless struggle to thoroughly remove pet hair and other debris from carpeting. With an impressive 2,600Pa of suction power, the midrange Proscenic M7 Pro excels at this task.

This system looks dumb, and some people simply can’t stand to watch it. The bots might even (semi-randomly) miss a patch of ground or shark cordless even an entire room in any given session. But if you run the bot at least a few days per week, your floors should stay pretty tidy.

The Roomba 694 is the most current model with Wi-Fi (for on-off remote control through a smartphone app), but you sometimes might be able to find a more basic model without Wi-Fi. Paying $250 or less for any of them is a fair deal; $200 or less is an excellent price. You might not expect sufficient cleaning power from a budget robot vacuum, but that’s precisely what the Anker Eufy RoboVac 25C delivers. Its suction power ability to scour sand from hardwood floors (78.9%) wasn’t too far below that of the Roborock S7.
