Dyson Debuts First Robot Vacuum Cleaner, the Eye 360

A design that’s too tall, a price that’s too high, and a set of features that’s too limited keep us from giving the Dyson 360 Eye our full recommendation. But this robot did give us an idea of the impressive engineering Dyson is capable of, and we fully expect to see better results from future versions. Dyson has been working on a robot vacuum for nearly two decades. The Dyson 360 Eye (MSRP $999) is the result of all that research and testing, and it’s finally on sale in the U.S. That means it’s time to cut through the marketing hype and put the 360 Eye through its paces in our robot vacuum test lab. The FCC filings come as the Dyson 360 Eye, which the company revealed as its first robotic vacuum in 2014, is listed as “out of stock” on the company’s US website.

According to a 2018 survey by Consumer Reports in the US, robot vacuums last an average of five years. Of course, this is based on models shark cordless that are, for the most part, no longer sold. Lower-end models often come with a remote control similar to a classic TV remote instead.

He notes that anatomically correct prosthetic hands have been carved and forged for the better part of 2,000 years. And yet, he says, the 20th century’s body-powered split hook is “more modern,” its design more willing to break the mold of the human hand. The research was conducted irobot vacuum cleaner while Spiers was a research scientist at Yale University’s GRAB Lab, headed by Aaron Dollar. In addition to Dollar, he worked closely with grad student Jillian Cochran, who coauthored the study. The most interesting change for this product, though, is the new shape.

While its cleaning pattern wasn’t that efficient, the app documents its path so you can see which spots may need tending to manually. It also lets you set up no-go areas and cleaning schedules easily and the vac responded well to voice control. Instead of mapping out your home, boundary strips will tell this vac where it can and cannot go. It proved reliable on carpet but pet hair did get tangled on the brushes. It was slower cleaning a whole room but did a good job, especially considering its price.

“This technology has a lot of mileage in it — and we’re just at the beginning,” he said. The team paired it with its existing, but still very recent, digital motor (the same one used in Dyson’s stick vacuums) — a motor that balanced suction power with a small footprint and weight. If you want the absolute best price on a robot vacuum cleaner without compromising features, the Airrobo T10 Plus is a steal. Costing less than you might expect, this robot vacuum cleaner comes with its own self-emptying system and mop attachment, and it pretty much has everything you could possibly need. The device comes with seven cleaning heads for sucking up dust and dirt on hardwood floors, carpets and smaller areas like crevices.

We are eagerly awaiting this vacuum’s 2016 release in the United States. The Dyson Eye 360™ is currently available in Japan, where it sells for approximately $1,200 USD. The trigger only powers the vacuum while your finger is holding it down. The design of the Dyson V6certainly looks very similar to the Dyson V7 and V8 model, and it is.

Onthe filed documents, the new robot vacuum cleaner is just called the RBO3. The FCC filing could indicate that the brand is ready to launch the machine in the US. The iRobot Roomba 980 has also dropped the ball when it comes to overall performance. However, the 980 does make sure it picks up as much as possible and does a fairly decent job.
