Bissell’s newest, wet-dry vacuum cleaner promises a cordless, light, easy-to-use appliance to help bring some sanity back into families’ lives. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max does an excellent job of handling pet hair on bare floors, though you might need to make an extra pass to clear away all of it on low-pile carpet. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max feels decently well-built. It’s similar to the BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro in terms of overall build quality, with a body made mainly from hard plastic and an aluminum wand. The floorhead release hinge unlocks with very little effort, making it hard to roll the vacuum around when it’s positioned completely upright. You’ll likely find it easier to move the vacuum from place to place by using the grab handle, which has a rubberized surface to give you a more secure grip.

It uses a less powerful suction motor than the corded BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro and is likely to have more trouble drawing out debris wedged deep within cracks and crevices. Like the corded model, swapping between the ‘Hard Floor’ and ‘Area Rug’ modes doesn’t impact suction performance, as these settings don’t alter brushroll height or motor output.
Set-up does not include connection of gas or water. Stores do not install AC units or video/camera doorbells, or specialty items. The reservoir that holds the cleaning solution or the clean water tank has a 28 oz capacity.
It has a hard time with both fine debris like baking soda and larger material like sand on this surface type. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max performs superbly on bare floors. It easily clears away small and bulky debris like rice and cereal, with no significant loss in suction performance as its dustbin fills up. The water tank has clearly legible fill lines for cleaning either large or small spaces. For improved portability, the vacuum comes with an ergonomic carry handle.
During that time, the cleaning solution goes from hot to cold, making the next usage cycle less optimal in cleaning effectiveness. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max is pretty portable. It weighs almost exactly as much as the corded BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro, but its redesigned handle places less weight in your hand as you maneuver it around. The handle release sounds like you break it with the loud click. There is a tendency for the rollers to leave streaks but we are experimenting with reduced amounts of cleaning liquid. The bottom one collects dirty water, and the top holds the cleaning solution. The latter has line markings to guide you with how much water to add, followed by the cleaning solution.
